Chelsea signs 20-year-old Portuguese midfielder Veiga.

According to previous reports, Chelsea paid a transfer fee of €14 million to sign Renato Veiga from Basel. They will sign a long-term contract with the player, which will last until June 2031, with a one-year extension option.

Renato Veiga came through the youth academy at Sporting CP and plays as a defensive midfielder. He was loaned to Augsburg and joined Basel last summer for a transfer fee of €4.6 million. He made 26 appearances for Basel, contributing 2 goals and 1 assist. Veiga has represented Portugal's U21 team 7 times, scoring 1 goal. Currently, his market value is €3 million.

Renato Veiga is Chelsea's fifth signing this summer, following the acquisitions of Adarabioyo, Hall, Guiu, and Kelleman.
