Marseille Nearing £17m Deal for Tottenham's Hojbjerg

Marseille is in advanced negotiations to secure Tottenham midfielder Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg for a fee of approximately £17 million. The 28-year-old Danish international appears set to leave North London, with both clubs optimistic that the deal will soon be finalized.
Hojbjerg, who joined Tottenham in 2020 from Southampton for £15 million under then-manager Jose Mourinho, has found his playing time limited under current Spurs boss Ange Postecoglou. Last season, he made 39 appearances but only started 10 matches, as Postecoglou preferred Yves Bissouma and Pape Matar Sarr in central midfield.
With Hojbjerg entering the final year of his contract, Tottenham has bolstered its midfield options by signing Archie Gray from Leeds and Lucas Bergvall from Djurgardens. This summer's midfield reinforcements have made Hojbjerg's departure more feasible for the club.
Marseille, under new manager Roberto de Zerbi, has been active in the transfer market. The French club recently acquired forward Mason Greenwood from Manchester United and midfielder Ismael Kone from Watford. They are also reportedly interested in Arsenal striker Eddie Nketiah.
As both clubs iron out the payment details, the transfer looks set to proceed, marking a significant move for Hojbjerg and potentially strengthening Marseille's squad ahead of the new season.
