Everton's Beto Embraces 'Haters' to Fuel His Ambition
Everton striker Beto, who joined the club from Udinese for £25 million last summer, has opened up about his struggles and motivations during his first season in England. The Portuguese forward, who scored five goals in his debut season, admitted that adjusting to the Premier League was challenging both mentally and physically.

Beto revealed that he thrives on criticism and uses negative comments on social media as motivation to improve. "We need to understand one thing: football is simple," he told BBC Sport. "Not everybody in this life is going to love you and not everybody in this life is going to hate you."

The 26-year-old striker highlighted that he often reads critical comments about his performances, taking them personally and using them as fuel to prove his detractors wrong. "I take a screenshot, I put it on my notes and I read it," he said.

Despite being mainly used as a substitute behind first-choice Dominic Calvert-Lewin, Beto emphasized the importance of competition and criticism in driving his performance. He reminisced about his early days in football, working part-time at a fast-food restaurant before making his mark in professional football.

Reflecting on his initial season with Everton, Beto acknowledged the difficulties of adapting from Serie A to the Premier League but remains optimistic about the future. "Now I know the Premier League and what I can do to get better," he said. "We managed to do our objective so it was good. We went on holiday with free minds and now we come back fresh and new."

Beto's determination to silence his critics and his commitment to continuous improvement bode well for his future contributions to Everton.
