Raphael Varane Joins Como After Manchester United Exit

French defender Raphael Varane has signed a two-year contract with newly-promoted Serie A club Como. The 31-year-old was a free agent following his departure from Manchester United at the end of the summer.
Varane, who has an illustrious career, including winning the 2018 World Cup with France, three La Liga titles, and four Champions League trophies with Real Madrid, spent three years at Old Trafford. He also earned 93 caps for the French national team before retiring from international football last year.
Como, making their return to Italy's top flight after a 21-year absence, recently appointed former Arsenal and Chelsea midfielder Cesc Fabregas as their head coach. Varane expressed his excitement about reuniting with Fabregas, emphasizing his admiration for the Spaniard's playing philosophy and passion for football.

"I will meet Cesc again, but this time not as an opponent," Varane said. "I am very happy; I really like his playing philosophy and his passion for football."
With Varane's experience and leadership, Como hopes to establish themselves in Serie A and build on their recent promotion.
