Jack Grealish 'Heartbroken' Over Euro 2024 Omission

Jack Grealish 'Heartbroken' Over Euro 2024 Omission
Manchester City forward Jack Grealish has revealed his deep disappointment after being left out of England's Euro 2024 squad, calling it the "most difficult thing I have had to deal with in my career." The 28-year-old, who has 36 caps for England, expressed his heartache but emphasized his determination to use this setback as motivation for the upcoming season.

Grealish featured as a substitute in England's 3-0 warm-up victory against Bosnia-Herzegovina at St James' Park, just over a week before the Euros began. Despite this, he was not included in Gareth Southgate's final 26-man squad. England ultimately reached the final but lost 2-1 to Spain.

Reflecting on the exclusion, Grealish said, "When you are on your holidays, every time you turn on the phone or the TV you just see it [the tournament], so it was hard not to see." He admitted that football-wise, it was the toughest moment he had ever faced. "I felt I should have been in the [England] squad," Grealish added, noting that he believes he offers something unique compared to other players in the team.

Grealish joined Manchester City from Aston Villa in August 2021 for a British record fee of £100 million, shortly after playing in the Euro 2020 final against Italy. Speaking during City's pre-season tour in the United States, he said, "For myself now moving forward, I have to just try and use that as motivation going into this season."

Despite his disappointment, Grealish remains focused on his career and aims to prove himself on the pitch. He acknowledged the highs and lows he has experienced but remains optimistic about his future contributions to both his club and country.
