Chelsea’s Marc Guiu Dismisses Money Claims in Barcelona Exit

Marc Guiu, Chelsea's new teenage striker, has refuted claims that his departure from Barcelona was financially motivated. The 18-year-old, who scored twice in seven appearances for Barcelona, emphasized that his move to the Premier League was driven by his long-held dream to play in England.
Guiu joined Chelsea after the club activated a £5 million release clause in his Barcelona contract. He has already made an impact on Chelsea’s pre-season tour in the United States, scoring once in four matches. Despite rumors from Spain suggesting financial reasons behind his exit, Guiu clarified, “It was not an issue with my contract. I’ve always dreamt of playing in the Premier League and Chelsea is a great club with a lot of history. It was a tough decision but it was an amazing opportunity, so I had to go for it.”
When questioned about his readiness for the Premier League and the possibility of a loan, Guiu replied, “I’m just focused on the pre-season tour, doing my best and that’s what I can say.” He added that Chelsea head coach Enzo Maresca has shown great faith in him, describing the club’s sporting project as “full of young talent.”
Guiu expressed confidence in his preparation, stating, “I think I’m ready. We work very hard every day both on and off the pitch, on the physical aspect and the practical. So I think I’m ready to be on the pitch and help the team when I’m needed.”
