PSG Secure Joao Neves from Benfica in £50m Transfer

Paris St-Germain have bolstered their midfield by signing 19-year-old Portuguese talent Joao Neves from Benfica in a deal valued at up to £60 million, including add-ons. Neves, who was previously linked with Manchester United, has committed to a five-year contract with the French champions.
Neves made a significant impact at Benfica since breaking into the first team in January of the previous year, accumulating 75 appearances and netting four goals across all competitions. His performances earned him a spot in the Portugal squad that reached the quarter-finals of Euro 2024 in Germany.
PSG President Nasser Al-Khelaifi praised Neves as one of the most talented players both in Portugal and internationally, highlighting the midfielder's passion and determination to join the club. With nine caps for Portugal and two appearances at the European Championship, Neves is eager to contribute and grow at PSG.
"I'm very proud to be joining Paris St-Germain, a very ambitious club," Neves stated. "I'm going to give my all to help my teammates, to grow at this fantastic club and to win numerous titles."
This signing comes as PSG looks to strengthen their squad following the departure of star forward Kylian Mbappe to Real Madrid. Neves' arrival is seen as a strategic move to maintain the club's competitive edge in both domestic and international competitions.
