Man Utd Eyes Fofana as Fulham Ends McTominay Interest

Manchester United has initiated discussions with AS Monaco regarding a potential transfer for midfielder Youssouf Fofana. The 25-year-old French international is entering the final year of his contract with Monaco, where he has been a pivotal player since joining from Strasbourg in 2020. Fofana has racked up 175 appearances and netted seven goals for the Ligue 1 side.
United's pursuit of Fofana comes as the club explores various midfield options to bolster their squad. Other potential targets include Richard Rios from Palmeiras, Sander Berge from Burnley, Martin Zubimendi from Real Sociedad, and Sofyan Amrabat, who spent last season on loan at the club. Interest in Paris Saint-Germain's Manuel Ugarte remains, though the club is cautious about the quoted prices.

Meanwhile, Fulham has decided not to continue their pursuit of Manchester United's Scott McTominay after having two bids rejected, the latest being £20 million. Fulham is now shifting focus to other targets, including Fluminense's Andre, a player they have long admired.
Additionally, PSG has shown interest in United's Jadon Sancho, initiating talks over a potential deal. Sancho, who has resumed training with United, could be open to a move, with personal terms not anticipated to be an obstacle.
As the summer transfer window approaches its close on August 30, clubs are eager to finalize deals and strengthen their rosters for the upcoming season.
