Liverpool considering £35m move for Valencia goalkeeper Giorgi Mamardashvili

Liverpool are exploring a move for Valencia goalkeeper Giorgi Mamardashvili for around £35million with the possibility he would then be sent on loan. The 23-year-old Georgia international is viewed as a potential long-term investment but Liverpool do not need a new goalkeeper this summer unless Caoimhin Kelleher leaves.
Mamardashvili's contract with the LaLiga club is expected to expire in 2027.
The goalkeeper, a graduate of the Dinamo Tbilisi academy, joined Valencia permanently in 2022 following a loan spell at the club, and has gone on to become the Spanish side's first-choice between the sticks.
He also featured in all of Georgia's Euro 2024 games, helping them qualify out of Group F to reach the round of 16, with his side notably beating Portugal 2-0 in their final group clash.
Liverpool had to call upon Kelleher for a large chunk of the 2023-24 season, after first-choice goalkeeper, Alisson, was sidelined with a hamstring injury.
Kelleher, 25, dazzled when deputising for his Brazilian team-mate. He notably impressed during Liverpool's successful Carabao Cup run last season.
Mail Sport has previously reported that the Irishman's performances had garnered him the attention of some around Europe, with Nottingham Forest boss, Nuno Espirito Santo, having been an admirer of the goalkeeper.
Brentford, meanwhile, have confirmed the signing of Liverpool midfielder Fabio Carvalho for £27.5m. Both Leicester and Southampton had made approaches for the promising 21-year-old, but he is set to move back to London, having joined the Reds from Fulham for £5m two years ago.
The Portuguese international, who played for England at age-grade level, had spent time on loan with RB Leipzig and Hull during his stay at Anfield.
