Atletico Madrid Secures Alvarez in Record Transfer from Man City

Atletico Madrid has completed the signing of Julian Alvarez from Manchester City for £81.5 million, a record sale for the English club. The Argentine striker joins Atletico on a six-year contract, with the Spanish side paying an initial £64.4 million and up to £17.1 million in potential add-ons. Alvarez, who won six major trophies with City, including a treble and the 2022 World Cup with Argentina, leaves after scoring 36 goals in 106 appearances. City director Txiki Begiristain praised Alvarez as a winner and expressed excitement for his future development. Atletico Madrid will face Villarreal in their La Liga opener on August 19.
