Zirkzee's Late Strike Secures Unconvincing Win for Man Utd

Manchester United kicked off their Premier League season with a narrow 1-0 victory over Fulham at Old Trafford. The match was decided by Joshua Zirkzee, a recent £35 million signing from Bologna, who scored the winning goal in the 87th minute. Coming off the bench, Zirkzee made an immediate impact, deftly flicking in a cross from Alejandro Garnacho.

Despite the win, United's performance was far from convincing. Fulham posed a significant challenge, especially in the first half, with Kenny Tete testing United's new goalkeeper, Andrea Onana, early on. Fulham's Bernd Leno also impressed, making several crucial saves to deny United's Bruno Fernandes and Mason Mount.

United manager Erik ten Hag acknowledged the importance of the victory but admitted there are still issues to address. With new co-owners Sir Jim Ratcliffe and INEOS backing Ten Hag for a third season, the team must improve to meet their ambitions. Meanwhile, Fulham manager Marco Silva felt his team deserved more from the game, lamenting missed opportunities and a lack of composure in key moments. As the season progresses, both teams will look to refine their strategies and capitalize on their strengths.
