Arsenal made a strong impression in the match against Liverpool with their poor defensive performance

Before the match between Arsenal and Liverpool, the main narrative for the home team was to avoid defeat to steer clear of a prolonged crisis. Indeed, Arsenal played with renewed energy, as promised by Mikel Arteta. However, on Sunday (October 27), the two Premier League contenders ended in a 2-2 draw, with Arsenal suffering significant injuries.
Within 10 minutes, Arsenal took the lead when Bukayo Saka, returning from injury, received a pass from Ben White, cut inside past Andy Robertson, and beat Caoimhín Kelleher at the near post for his 50th Premier League goal.
Liverpool quickly equalized when a corner from Trent Alexander-Arnold was headed in by Virgil van Dijk after being flicked on by Luis Díaz.
Shortly after halftime, Arsenal regained the lead when Declan Rice’s header from a Mikel Merino cross found the net. This goal underwent a lengthy VAR check for an offside decision, as the Spanish midfielder’s toe was ruled offside by less than a millimeter.
Arsenal controlled much of the second half but conceded in the final 10 minutes. A pass from Alexander-Arnold, similar to the one leading to White’s first goal, precisely found the gap between Jakub Kiwior and Myles Lewis-Skelly. Darwin Núñez collected the ball and assisted Mohamed Salah, who scored.
Kai Havertz thought he had scored the winner for Arsenal, but his celebrations were cut short as the referee had already blown for a foul. Arsenal players are likely to question why the referee didn’t allow play to continue and check VAR before calling the foul.
