Keown: Gerrard Deserves Another Chance in the UK

Despite Steven Gerrard's struggles in several coaching roles, former Aston Villa star Martin Keown still has high hopes for the Liverpool legend and believes the former midfielder deserves another chance to coach in England.

Speaking on talkSPORT, Keown said: “I think, when you’re managing in these places, you have to give it everything, right? Obviously, he did an excellent job with Rangers. Then he went to Villa, and the results were disappointing.”  

“I have high expectations for Gerrard becoming a top coach. I think he deserves another chance when he returns to the UK.”  

“I just feel that he resonates strongly with teams. He has a deep understanding of the game. He’s very passionate about coaching and has put in the hard work. Sure, he’s earned a lot of money halfway across the world, but he still wants to make it work.”  

“He seems like someone who, along with Lampard, is destined for success. We’ve been looking for an English coach recently, and if these two can keep going and meet our expectations, they could even manage the national team.”  

“On the other hand, he might lose his job in Saudi Arabia soon. He’ll need to decide what he wants next, how ambitious he is, and how much confidence he has in himself.”
