Benfica head coach Bruno Lage gave an interview to Sport TV
After the Champions League 1-0 home loss to Bayern Munich, Benfica head coach Bruno Lage gave an interview to Sport TV.

On the Match
Benfica’s head coach, Bruno Lage, said, “We lacked some ball control. Our intention was to create a dynamic system with three midfielders, placing Aktürkoğlu in the No. 10 role and Amdouni as the striker, forming a diamond shape. Our midfielders are skilled at ball control and positioning and are accustomed to this pressure. Unfortunately, we couldn't achieve this in the first half. We knew that as time went on, the game might calm down and give us more time on the ball. Unfortunately, we couldn't make that happen.”
On Playing with Five Defenders
Lage said, “I acknowledged this tactic to the players. I felt that if we could avoid man-marking and control the ball more, it might work. Now that this game is over, we’re starting to focus on the Porto match, which is very important for us.”
On the Halftime Substitution
Lage explained, “Kabore did well, but unfortunately he received a yellow card, and we didn't want to take any risks in the second half, especially since he faces a lot of one-on-one situations on the wing. So I brought on Bester, who is accustomed to playing on the left side but can also handle the right.”
He added, “There are still four Champions League games left, and we have six points. This is what we need to keep our focus on.”
