Zenit Football Club has received official notification from FIFA approving captain Douglas Santos' change of football nationality. The Russian Football Union (RFS) also sent an official notification to the club, confirming that, effective immediately, Douglas Santos will no longer be classified as a foreign player. According to Presidential Decree No. 900 signed by President Vladimir Putin on October 21, 2024, Douglas Santos obtained a Russian passport on October 25.
This decision means that Douglas Santos will no longer occupy a foreign player slot in the Russian Premier League, offering Zenit greater flexibility in their squad arrangements.
