Hansi Flick Takes Responsibility After Barcelona's Surprise Defeat

Barcelona manager Hansi Flick has acknowledged his team's disappointing performance following a surprising 1-0 loss to Real Sociedad, which ended their impressive seven-match winning streak across all competitions. Flick praised Sociedad for their decisive play and emphasized that there were no excuses for his side's lackluster showing. Despite the defeat, Barcelona remains at the top of La Liga with 33 points, maintaining a six-point lead over Real Madrid, although the latter has a game in hand.

In a post-match press conference, Flick stated, "Today was not our day," stressing the need for his team to accept the result. He noted that Barcelona failed to create sufficient scoring opportunities and suffered from poor decision-making during the match. While the team started well, Flick admitted that they quickly fell into a pattern of mistakes, culminating in the only goal of the game scored by Sociedad. Remarkably, Barcelona finished the match without registering a single shot on target.
Flick took full responsibility for the defeat, emphasizing that the onus was on his players to improve. "We could and should have played much better," he remarked, reflecting on their inability to hold possession effectively and the errors made by the defense. Despite the setback, Flick expressed appreciation for the team's overall performance in the season so far, urging them to learn from the defeat as they prepare for future challenges.
