The big news at the Emirates has been that of the injury to Bukayo Saka, which will keep him out for a long time, with Arteta referencing ‘many weeks’ when asked about his return timeline. The winger’s absence will be a big blow, which has given rise to stories about a new attacker ahead of the January transfer window.
However, Arsenal may have found a solution to that conundrum on the right side against Crystal Palace when Gabriel Martinelli was very effective on that wing. The idea is for the Brazilian to feature there once again, as Leandro Trossard is expected to feature on the left wing.
There is a chance that Mikel Arteta could look to use Gabriel Jesus from the left, which could see Kai Havertz return to the central role. Arterta used the latter in midfield against Crystal Palace, although Declan Rice is now expected to start there alongside Thomas Partey and Martin Odegaard.
Raheem Sterling is also out for ‘many weeks’ with a knee problem, which does leave Arsenal a bit short in the attacking setup. The Crystal Palace game also saw Riccardo Calafiori return to action from an injury, and he will be expected to replace teenage sensation Myles Lewis-Skelly at left-back.
Ipswich Town
Kieran McKenna will be without a few of his first-team stars, although the only recent such case came with Samy Morsy, who missed out on this trip with a suspension. The others are Chiedozie Obgene, Janoi Donacien, George Hirst and Axel Tuanzebe.
There was a scare with former Gunners star Omari Hutchinson following his substitution at halftime. Still, the attacker is expected to be fit and starting in the attacking setup against Arsenal.
On-loan Manchester City midfielder Kalvin Phillips will keep his place in the centre of the park alongside Jens Cajuste. Cameron Burgess and Dara O’Shea are the likely choices at the heart of the defence, with Harry Clarke and Leif Davis reprising the full-back roles.
Conor Chaplin will play in the attacking midfield role with Sammie Szmodics on the left-hand side. Liam Delap will have to overcome the big challenge of overcoming those formidable Arsenal defenders in William Saliba and Gabriel Magalhaes as he hopes to get the best of the duo.

Prediction: Arsenal 3-0 Ipswich Town
McKenna has stuck to his guns no matter who Ipswich have faced this season, meaning that the Tractor Boys are unlikely to sacrifice an attacking player in favour of an extra defender for the trip to the Emirates, and the visitors have a knack for scoring away from home. However, even a Saka-less Arsenal should not have any problems picking the Ipswich lock, and we can only picture the Gunners making light work of the Tractor Boys, with another clean sheet in tow.
