Leyton Orient will be looking to boost their chances of sneaking back into the League One playoffs when they welcome Stevenage to Brisbane Road on Thursday night.

The O's are seeking revenge against the Boro after they suffered a narrow 1-0 home defeat in the third round of the EFL Trophy at the end of January.

Having won 12 of their 15 league matches from the beginning of December until the middle of February, Orient’s levels have dropped and they may not have things all their own way against Stevenage.

The Boro appear to be in mid-table mediocrity and have won only one of their last five, although they have played runaway leaders Birmingham and playoff hopefuls Huddersfield and Reading in that period.

Stevenage won the shot count in 2-1 defeats to Birmingham and Huddersfield, while their latest 1-1 draw away at Reading was a bitter pill to swallow given that they had 19 shots to the Royals’ seven.

Alex Revell’s side are creating plenty of goalscoring opportunities and they should cause problems for Orient, who are desperate to win but have managed only one clean sheet in 11.

Stevenage have failed to score in only two of their last 14 matches and that offers hope for an entertaining encounter on their short trip to Orient, who have seen both teams score in six of their last eight third-tier fixtures.

Orient and Stevenage played out a goalless draw in the reverse fixture, while Boro were 1-0 winners at this venue in the EFL Trophy in January, but this has the makings of a more captivating contest with both teams to score representing a spot of value at odds-against.
