Arema FC to Restructure Foreign Players, Focus on Retaining Local Talent

The 2024-25 Liga 1 season is still ongoing, with seven matches remaining for all teams, including Arema FC. However, preparations for the 2025-26 season have already begun, especially for teams that have secured their place in the top division.
Arema FC, with 42 points from 27 matches, is set to remain in Liga 1, despite having four home games and three away matches left. As a result, the club has started evaluating its squad for next season, with a focus on restructuring player compositions.
General Manager YusrinalFitriandi confirmed that changes are planned, with a focus on improving the team. While there won't be a complete overhaul, the club will likely make adjustments, particularly with the foreign players, while keeping most of the local players intact.
Currently, Arema FC has eight foreign players, including five Brazilians, a Colombian, a South Korean, and an Australian. However, only Lucas Frigeri is expected to stay for next season, as confirmed by his announcement on Instagram. While Frigeri has made 26 appearances in Liga 1, the future of other foreign players, particularly WiliamMarcilio, remains uncertain.
Additionally, the club has been evaluating the coaching staff and overall team performance since the start of the second half of the season. The remaining seven games will be crucial in determining where Arema finishes in the standings and will factor into the final team evaluation for the upcoming season.
