Jeremy Monga Becomes Second-Youngest Player in Premier League History
Leicester City's Jeremy Monga has made history by becoming the second-youngest player to ever feature in the Premier League, following his senior debut in the 3-0 defeat to Newcastle United on Monday.
At just 15 years and 271 days old, Monga now holds this milestone, with Arsenal's Ethan Nwaneri still holding the record as the youngest player to ever play in the league—he debuted when he was 90 days younger than Monga.
Due to regulations in the UK Gambling Act, Monga had to wear a blank shirt during his debut, as his team’s kit was sponsored by an online cryptocurrency gaming platform, which is restricted for players under 18.
The England under-16 international’s debut comes at a challenging time for Leicester, who are currently 19th in the league standings, suffering their eighth consecutive loss and remaining 15 points from safety.
