New Home, New Name: Tornado FC Rebrands as Kendal Tornado FC After Relocating to Central Java

After relocating to a new home base, the Liga 2 team from Pekanbaru has rebranded itself as Kendal Tornado FC. Previously known as Tornado FC Pekanbaru, the team has undergone this change following a shift in ownership and a move to Kendal, a region in Central Java.
The new owner, Junianto, commonly known as EbesAnto, is a businessman with various ventures across Central Java, including in Kendal, Semarang, Demak, and Ungaran. EbesAnto had previously announced his intention to move the club to a city where he had business interests. In Kendal, he owns a hospital and has a training center (TC) in Salamsari. Additionally, he was once the Commissioner of PSIS Semarang and held shares in the struggling Liga 1 team.
As part of the transition, the club held a logo design competition for the newly named Kendal Tornado FC. With this move, the upcoming Liga 2 season will feature three teams from Central Java, including Kendal Tornado FC, Persiku Kudus, and PersekatTegal.
Before the acquisition by EbesAnto, Tornado FC was based in Pekanbaru and played in Liga 3. The team’s promotion to Liga 2 this season marks a new chapter in its history. Initially, Tornado FC played its Liga 3 matches at the Sriwedari Stadium in Solo, and several cities were considered as potential new homes, including Semarang, Kendal, Pekanbaru, and Demak.
