Stefano Cugurra Announces Departure from Bali United

Stefano Cugurra, the head coach of Bali United, has announced that he will part ways with the club at the end of the 2024-25 Liga 1 season, following a loss to Persib. Known as Teco, the Brazilian coach’s contract is set to expire, and he confirmed his decision in a press conference after the 2-1 defeat to Persib on April 18, 2025. Teco has been at the helm of Bali United since 2019 and has taken full responsibility for the team’s recent struggles, including a seven-match winless streak in the current season.
Despite the recent challenges, Teco expressed his gratitude to the Bali United management and supporters. He stated that he will continue to give his best in the remaining five matches of the season, where the team will face PSM Makassar, PSIS Semarang, Persija Jakarta, Madura United, and Persebaya Surabaya. Teco's early announcement allows the club to search for his successor with ample time before the season ends, ensuring a smooth transition.
Teco’s time with Bali United has been highly successful, having led the team to two Liga 1 titles, including back-to-back championships in 2019 and 2021-22. Before his time in Bali, Teco also made a significant impact at Persija Jakarta, where he helped the club win the 2018 Liga 1 title. His departure marks the end of an era for Bali United, and the club will now focus on finding a new manager to continue their success.
