VAR to Be Implemented in Liga 2 Next Season

The Indonesian Football Association (PSSI) continues to push for the development of football in the country by improving various match systems. One significant move in this direction is the introduction of VAR (Video Assistant Referee) in Liga 2 for the upcoming season. This follows the success of VAR in Liga 1, where it was first used during the Championship Series last season and will continue into the 2024-25 season.
The decision to implement VAR in Liga 2 is aimed at enhancing the quality of decision-making in matches, minimizing referee errors, and reducing the possibility of match-fixing. VAR has proven to be an essential tool in improving the fairness of games, as seen in its positive impact on Liga 1. It also supports referees by providing more accurate assessments of key incidents, ensuring that more correct decisions are made.
The adoption of VAR in Liga 2 is expected to address ongoing controversies and disputes in matches, which often lead to heated exchanges and even violent reactions toward referees. By introducing this technology, PSSI aims to improve the overall integrity and quality of Indonesian football, benefiting both players and officials while helping the sport to continue growing.
