Nova Arianto Hints He Won't Coach Indonesia's SEA Games Team

Nova Arianto has suggested that he will not take on the role of head coach for Indonesia's national team in the 2025 SEA Games, with his primary focus remaining on coaching the U-17 team. His name has been floated as a potential candidate for the SEA Games position, but as of now, the Indonesian Football Association (PSSI) has yet to announce who will lead the U-23 team.
The U-23 team, which will compete in the SEA Games, is currently managed by Gerald Vanenburg. However, there is uncertainty regarding whether Gerald will coach the team in the SEA Games, as he is also tasked with guiding the U-23 team to qualify for the 2028 Olympics. The U-23 team will also be involved in the 2025 AFF U-23 Championship and the 2026 U-23 AFC Asian Cup qualifiers, which are key responsibilities for Gerald.
Given these commitments, Nova Arianto has made it clear that his priority is the U-17 team, which has secured a spot in the 2025 U-17 World Cup. He explained that his focus remains on the World Cup and that he has not been approached by PSSI regarding the SEA Games role. The decision now rests with PSSI, who must make a timely announcement regarding the coaching situation.
