PSIS Semarang's Tough Season Continues After Defeat to Borneo FC
PSIS Semarang suffered a heavy 2-5 loss to Borneo FC in their week 30 Liga 1 match, further deepening their struggle to avoid relegation. Despite the home advantage at StadionJatidiri, PSIS failed to stop Borneo FC’s offensive charge, with five goals coming from Mariano Peralta, Berguinho, Ronaldo Rodrigues, Habibi Yusuf, and MatheusPato. PSIS’s goals were scored by Sandy Ferizal and Joao Ferrari, but it was not enough to halt their slide.
The defeat marked a continuation of PSIS’s winless streak, now spanning 10 matches. Their last victory came in week 20, when they beat PSBS Biak 3-1, but since then, they’ve only managed four points from a possible 30. Of these, six matches ended in losses and four in draws, pushing them down to the relegation zone. This defeat also adds to their list of heavy losses, with this 2-5 scoreline being one of their worst of the season, following a 1-4 defeat to Dewa United earlier in the campaign.
PSIS’s struggles have been especially pronounced at home, where they’ve won only three out of 15 matches. In contrast, their away form has been slightly better, with three wins, five draws, and seven losses. This ongoing pattern of poor home results and inability to secure consistent victories has left them fighting for survival as the season progresses.
