Relegation Battle Intensifies as Four Teams Fight to Avoid Joining PSIS in Liga 2

PSIS Semarang has become the first confirmed team to be relegated from Liga 1 Indonesia for the 2024–25 season. With only 25 points from 32 matches, even their maximum potential of 31 points is not enough to escape the bottom of the standings. As a result, they will compete in Liga 2 next season, while the final two relegation spots remain undecided with just two matchdays remaining.
The race to avoid joining PSIS in relegation involves four other teams: PSS Sleman, Barito Putera, Semen Padang, and Madura United. Currently sitting just a few points apart, all four remain vulnerable, with standings ranging from 28 to 33 points. This narrow gap means that even a single result could significantly alter the relegation picture, and none of these teams can afford a slip-up in the final games.
The remaining fixtures promise intense drama, as these teams not only battle for survival but also face each other directly in crucial head-to-head matchups. With the stakes so high, each game becomes a virtual final. The pressure is immense, and only those who can deliver under this stress will retain their Liga 1 status for next season.
