This decision comes as part of the sanctions imposed by the PSSI Disciplinary Committee (Komdis) following an incident where a bus carrying the Persik team was attacked. The match will remain in Malang as Arema FC requested, despite the controversy surrounding the recent events.
Tensions surrounding the game escalated after Semen Padang’s owner, Andre Rosiade, made controversial statements, suggesting the need for foreign referees and calling for PSSI Chairman Erick Thohir to be present at the stadium to ensure the neutrality of the match. Rosiade’s comments referenced the 2017 Piala Presiden semifinal, which he claimed was marred by controversy. This sparked a response from Arema FC’s General Manager, Muhammad Yusrinal Fitriandi, who emphasized the importance of maintaining sportsmanship and professionalism, refuting any claims of external interference in past victories.
