Vincenzo Italiano Emerges as Leading Candidate for AC Milan Head Coach Role

AC Milan’s appointment of Igli Tare as their new sporting director has significantly shifted the club’s managerial search. One of Tare’s first strategic moves was to dismiss the possibility of hiring Maurizio Sarri, instead placing Vincenzo Italiano at the top of the candidate list. This decision followed Milan’s unsuccessful attempt to recruit Atalanta’s sporting director, Tony D’Amico, who was initially linked to plans involving Sarri as head coach.
Tare’s history with Sarri, marked by strained relations during their time together at Lazio, played a key role in Sarri being ruled out. Their professional differences led to Tare's departure from Lazio in 2023, making a reunion at San Siro highly unlikely. With Tare now steering Milan’s football operations, the club is expected to pursue a different tactical direction under new leadership.
Vincenzo Italiano, currently contracted with Bologna until 2026, has gained prominence after guiding the club to a Coppa Italia title. Although he is considering a contract renewal, AC Milan’s interest could tempt him to make the move. With the Rossoneri redefining their future, all eyes are on whether Italiano will accept the opportunity to lead one of Italy’s most storied clubs.
