Chelsea Plan Major Summer Overhaul with 13 Players Set for Exit in 2025
Chelsea are preparing for a major squad overhaul ahead of the 2025-26 season, with at least 13 players reportedly set to be offloaded. Despite ending the 2024-25 campaign on a positive note—securing a fourth-place Premier League finish and winning the UEFA Conference League—the club remains unsatisfied with its current squad composition. Management believes further changes are necessary to ensure long-term competitiveness, especially with new signings already arriving.
The addition of young talents like Liam Delap, Andrey Santos, and Estevao Willian is expected to intensify competition within the team. As a result, several established names could be shown the door. One of the surprising inclusions on the potential exit list is Noni Madueke, who had a decent season with seven goals and three assists but is now considered expendable due to perceived stagnation in his development.
Other notable players like goalkeeper Robert Sanchez and defender Wesley Fofana may also be sold if suitable offers are received. Several loanees from last season, including Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall and Renato Veiga, are unlikely to be retained, while players such as Lesley Ugochukwu and Carney Chukwuemeka remain uncertain despite promising loan spells. Even high-profile signings like Christopher Nkunku and Joao Felix are being evaluated for potential departures, although Chelsea might struggle to recover the significant fees spent on them.
The club is also considering the sale of Djordje Petrovic, who had an excellent season on loan at Strasbourg. Other names reportedly not in Enzo Maresca’s plans include Ben Chilwell, Axel Disasi, and Raheem Sterling, whose loan stint at Arsenal failed to impress. Overall, Chelsea appears to be shifting toward a more pragmatic, financially grounded approach to squad management as they look to build a more balanced and sustainable team.
