Manchester City Eyes Gianluigi Donnarumma as Potential Successor to Ederson

Manchester City is reportedly preparing for a major change in their goalkeeping department, with Gianluigi Donnarumma emerging as the primary candidate to replace Ederson. After several seasons of stability with the Brazilian as their number one, City is expected to part ways with him this summer as he seeks a new challenge in his career away from the Etihad.
The club has identified Donnarumma, currently at Paris Saint-Germain, as an ideal replacement due to his consistent performances and impressive track record. The Italian goalkeeper played a pivotal role in PSG’s treble-winning campaign last season and remains one of the top talents in European football. His age and experience at the highest level make him a long-term asset for Manchester City.
With Donnarumma’s contract at PSG set to expire next year and renewal talks reportedly stalling, the French club may be open to selling him rather than risking a free transfer. This scenario significantly increases City’s chances of securing the Italian international during the current transfer window.
However, signing Donnarumma won't come cheap. Manchester City is expected to pay around €40 million to acquire his services. Despite the high fee, the club views the investment as worthwhile given his potential to become the cornerstone of their defense for years to come.
