Jay Idzes Likely to Stay at Venezia Despite Relegation Concerns
Jay Idzes, captain of the Indonesian national team, has expressed contentment with his current club, Venezia, despite transfer rumors swirling around the summer 2025 window. The defender was a key player for Venezia in the 2024-25 Serie A season, making 35 appearances and scoring once, marking a historic achievement as the first Indonesian to play in Italy’s top flight. However, Venezia’s relegation to Serie B poses uncertainty about his future.
Although several clubs have shown interest in Idzes, no concrete offers have materialized. Venezia has set a high transfer fee of 10 million euros, surpassing the player’s estimated market value, which has deterred potential buyers. Genoa, one of the teams linked with Idzes, eventually opted to sign another defender, while other interested clubs like Bologna, Udinese, and Pisa have yet to make progress.
Given the lack of viable moves and the club’s firm stance on his price, Idzes seems poised to remain with Venezia and play in Serie B. His contract runs until 2027, and he has voiced a strong connection to the club and its supporters. The defender’s attitude reflects loyalty and readiness to contribute to Venezia’s efforts to return to Serie A.
