Manchester United Consider Loaning Out Andre Onana Amid Donnarumma Interest

Manchester United are reportedly exploring the possibility of loaning out goalkeeper Andre Onana during the 2025 summer transfer window. This unexpected move arises as the club expresses strong interest in signing PSG’s Gianluigi Donnarumma. The decision is believed to be influenced by Onana’s inconsistent performances and manager Ruben Amorim’s desire to revamp the squad following a disappointing Premier League campaign.

Onana joined Manchester United from Inter Milan in 2023 for £43.8 million, replacing long-time goalkeeper David de Gea. Despite making over 100 appearances, his tenure has been marked by critical errors, most notably in the Europa League, which have raised doubts about his long-term reliability. With Monaco reportedly showing interest, United are now weighing options between a permanent transfer and a loan to offload the 29-year-old.

Meanwhile, Donnarumma has emerged as United’s preferred replacement amid uncertainty surrounding his future at PSG. The Italian goalkeeper, who helped PSG clinch the Champions League title, is also attracting interest from Chelsea and Galatasaray. His potential arrival would signify a significant defensive upgrade for United, although financial hurdles such as his wages and transfer fee could complicate negotiations.

Loaning Onana would offer United financial flexibility and make space for a new goalkeeper. While it carries risks, especially with no guaranteed replacement yet, the club appears willing to make bold moves to reset their trajectory.
