Victor Boniface’s Move to AC Milan Collapses Due to Knee Issue

Victor Boniface’s anticipated transfer to AC Milan from Bayer Leverkusen was officially canceled due to medical concerns, specifically involving his right knee. The Nigerian striker had been set to join Milan on a season-long loan with a €30 million purchase option at the end of the deal. However, following medical examinations in Italy, the club decided not to proceed with the agreement.
The failed move forces Boniface to return to Germany and rejoin Bayer Leverkusen for the upcoming season. Although AC Milan has not completely ruled out the possibility of revisiting the deal in the future, reports suggest that the chances of a winter transfer in 2026 remain slim, given the medical concerns that halted the summer negotiations.
Leverkusen’s sporting director confirmed that the deal with Milan is considered closed and unlikely to be renegotiated. With the transfer off the table, the pressure now falls on Boniface to prove his fitness and form if he hopes to attract renewed interest or earn a consistent starting spot at Leverkusen.
At the moment, Boniface faces stiff competition in Leverkusen’s attacking lineup, where Patrik Schick and Christian Kofane are already established options. To reclaim a regular role, he will need to show improved performances and demonstrate his ability to stay physically reliable throughout the season.
