The Indonesia national football team has secured a replacement opponent for their September 2025 FIFA Matchday after Kuwait unexpectedly canceled their scheduled match. Originally, Indonesia was set to play Kuwait and Lebanon in two friendly matches at Gelora Bung Tomo Stadium in Surabaya. However, the Football Association of Kuwait abruptly withdrew from the fixture, prompting Indonesia’s football association to find a substitute opponent.

Following the cancellation, Chinese Taipei was confirmed as the new rival for the Indonesian team, maintaining the same schedule with matches planned for September 5th and 9th at the same venue. This adjustment ensures that Indonesia’s preparations for the upcoming World Cup 2026 Asian qualifiers continue as planned. The matches against Chinese Taipei and Lebanon serve as crucial warm-up games ahead of the qualification campaign.

The Indonesian football association also provided ticket holders with the option to request refunds if they could no longer attend due to the change in opponents. Refund requests are handled through a link sent via email to those who purchased tickets, allowing supporters to manage their attendance with ease.

These friendly matches are part of Indonesia’s broader strategy to build a competitive squad ahead of the fourth round of World Cup qualifiers, where they will face strong teams including Saudi Arabia and Iraq in Group B.
