Indonesia’s FIFA Ranking Hangs in the Balance Ahead of Lebanon Clash

Indonesia faces a crucial test in the September 2025 FIFA Matchday after a dominant 6-0 win over Chinese Taipei, as they prepare to host Lebanon at Gelora Bung Tomo Stadium. This match is more than a friendly, as it holds the potential to impact Indonesia’s FIFA world ranking. Currently, Lebanon ranks 112th with 1,176.19 points and comes in confident after a recent 1-0 victory over Qatar, making them a challenging opponent for the Indonesian team.
Indonesia, now ranked 117th with 1,157.80 points, improved their position following the recent win over Chinese Taipei. A victory against Lebanon could push Indonesia up to 116th place, overtaking Kazakhstan, which currently holds that spot with 1,160.52 points. Winning would add about 5.17 points to Indonesia’s tally, boosting their total to 1,162.97 points. However, this advancement depends also on Kazakhstan’s performance, as they face Belgium in the World Cup qualifiers.
If Kazakhstan secures a win, Indonesia’s chances of surpassing them diminish. Meanwhile, a draw for Indonesia would yield a modest increase of 0.17 points, likely leaving their ranking unchanged at 117th. Conversely, a loss could result in a drop of 4.83 points, pushing Indonesia down to around 1,152.97 points and risking a fall in the rankings, especially if other lower-ranked nations gain points.
This match against Lebanon is therefore critical for Indonesia to maintain their positive momentum in the FIFA rankings. The outcome will not only affect their international standing but also serve as a benchmark for the team’s progress as they aim to climb higher on the global stage.
