FIFA: The 2025 Intercontinental Cup will kick off on September 14, with the final on December 17

FIFA has announced the 2025 Intercontinental Cup runs from September 14 to December 17, with the final on the latter date. This annual global club event features six continental champions, with the first two matches' dates and venues confirmed. Like last year, the updated format starts with teams vying for the FIFA Africa-Asia-Pacific Cup on home soil.

Hosted alternately by AFC and CAF, the Africa-Asia-Pacific Cup's first play-off is on September 14 (21:00 local) in Cairo: 2024/25 CAF Champions League winners Pyramids vs 2025 OFC champions Auckland City. The victor faces 2024/25 AFC Champions League holders Al-Ittihad Jeddah in Jeddah on September 23 (21:00 local) for the cup and a next-stage spot.

The Africa-Asia-Pacific winner moves on. The "Americas Derby" (December 10) sees 2025 Concacaf Champions Cup winners Cruz Azul take on the 2025 Copa Libertadores champion (decided November 29). The December 13 FIFA Challenger Cup pits that winner against the Africa-Asia-Pacific victor, with the result deciding who faces 2024/25 UEFA Champions League winners Paris Saint-Germain in the December 17 final.

Venues for the third, fourth and fifth matches are to be announced.
