Leeds United Open to Illan Meslier Exit in January Transfer Window

Leeds United are reportedly prepared to let goalkeeper Illan Meslier leave during the January 2026 transfer window. Meslier’s role in the first team has diminished significantly following the club’s summer signing of Lucas Perri from Lyon, leaving him as the third-choice goalkeeper behind Perri and Karl Darlow.
The drop in Meslier’s status is attributed to injuries, declining performances, and recurring mistakes that reduced manager Daniel Farke’s trust in him. These factors led Leeds to bring in Perri to strengthen the goalkeeper position and secure more reliability at the back.
With Meslier’s contract set to expire in summer 2026, Leeds see a January transfer as an opportunity to avoid losing him on a free transfer. The club is therefore open to offers, seeking to recoup value while giving Meslier a chance to revive his career elsewhere.
Several clubs across France, Spain, and Italy, including Inter Milan, Lorient, and Valencia, are reportedly monitoring Meslier’s situation. Inter, in particular, view him as a cost-effective option to bolster their goalkeeping options, making the January window a pivotal moment for his future.
