Inter Milan Set to Secure Manuel Akanji on a Permanent Deal After Impressive Loan Spell

Inter Milan has decided to make Manuel Akanji’s stay permanent after being impressed with his performances during his loan from Manchester City. The Swiss defender initially joined on a season-long loan for a fee of €1 million, with an option to buy set at €15 million, which could become mandatory based on appearances or if Inter wins the Serie A title.
Since arriving on the final day of the summer transfer window, Akanji has quickly integrated into the squad. He has featured in multiple key matches, including three Serie A games and a Champions League win against Ajax, consistently earning a place in the starting lineup.
Inter’s management reportedly does not want to wait for the purchase clause to trigger automatically. They are ready to activate it early as a sign of confidence in Akanji’s quality and to ensure they secure the experienced centre-back before other clubs show interest.
Akanji brings a strong pedigree to the Italian side, having previously played for Winterthur, Basel, and Borussia Dortmund before moving to Manchester City in 2022 for €20 million. Now approaching his 30th birthday, he is seen as a valuable addition to Inter’s defensive core for the long term.
