Juventus Face Financial Strain After Sacking Tudor While Eyeing Spalletti Return

Juventus are once again in search of a new head coach following the dismissal of Igor Tudor after a poor run of results. The club’s 1-0 defeat to Lazio marked their seventh consecutive match without a win, prompting management to act. Tudor, who was only recently appointed as a permanent coach after replacing Thiago Motta in March, became the latest casualty of Juventus’ turbulent season.
The decision to part ways with Tudor carries serious financial consequences for the Turin club. Both Tudor and Motta remain under contract until 2027, meaning Juventus must continue paying their salaries despite their departures. Motta and his staff reportedly earn around €12 million annually, while Tudor’s gross salary is estimated at €8 million per season, leaving Juventus with nearly €40 million in obligations over the next two years.
Compounding their troubles, Juventus will now have to pay a third coach once a replacement is appointed. The leading candidate to take over is Luciano Spalletti, who has been without a club since leaving the Italian national team in June. The former Napoli coach, who previously earned €3 million per season with the Azzurri, is being considered for a short-term deal until the end of the campaign, with an option to extend if he secures Champions League qualification.
Reports from Sky Sport Italia suggest that Juventus are preparing direct talks with Spalletti to finalize the details. The Italian tactician is reportedly open to returning to Serie A and has already turned down offers from abroad, including clubs from Turkey and Qatar. Having last led Napoli to the Scudetto in the 2022-23 season, Spalletti’s experience and success in Italian football make him a strong candidate to revive Juventus’ struggling campaign.
