Sport: PSG Targets Barcelona's 18-Year-Old Midfielder Juan Hernández as Contract Nears End
Paris Saint-Germain is reportedly setting its sights on Juan Hernández, one of the most promising young talents emerging from the Barcelona setup, according to Spanish newspaper Sport. The 18-year-old midfielder’s contract with Barça Atlètic is set to expire in June 2026.
Hernández joined the La Masia academy in 2022 from Zaragoza and has quickly attracted attention, particularly from PSG, following a solid season with Barcelona's B team. His versatility is highly valued by international scouts, as he can effectively operate both in a central midfield role and on the wings. This season, he has become an absolute fixture for Barça Atlètic, contributing a goal and an assist, and has been a regular for the Spanish youth national teams since the U15 level.
PSG, and especially manager Luis Enrique, are known to closely monitor talents from the Barça academy. They view Hernández as an ideal fit for the club's strategy of acquiring top young European prospects.
Despite the player's potential, his contract extension with Barcelona has not yet been finalized, even after initial talks. His release clause is set at $€6$ million, but with his contract nearing its end, there is a risk he could leave on a free transfer. This situation increases the urgency for Barcelona to secure his future, given the heightened interest from a European rival like PSG.
