Verdonk Shines as Lille Secure Crucial Win Over Angers

Calvin Verdonk continued his impressive form with LOSC Lille as the team secured another valuable victory in the Ligue 1 2025-26 campaign. The versatile Indonesian defender started once again under Bruno Genesio, featuring as part of a solid backline alongside Aissa Mandi, Chancel Mbemba, and Thomas Meunier in their home clash against Angers at Decathlon Arena.
Lille controlled the game for most of the match, maintaining 54 percent possession compared to Angers’ 46 percent. The hosts were more aggressive in attack, registering 15 shots while limiting their opponents to just six. Despite their dominance, Lille only managed to break the deadlock in first-half injury time through Felix Correia, who finished off a fine team move set up by Ayyoub Bouaddi.
The win further strengthened Lille’s position near the top of the Ligue 1 standings, collecting 20 points from 11 matches and staying within reach of leaders Paris Saint-Germain. Verdonk’s consistent performances have been key to Lille’s stability at the back, helping the team maintain a solid defensive record in recent fixtures.
Throughout the full 90 minutes, Verdonk showcased his reliability with 88 percent passing accuracy and strong defensive contributions, including tackles, clearances, and interceptions. His well-rounded display earned him a 7.7 rating from Fotmob, reflecting both his composure and influence in Lille’s clean-sheet victory.
