Indonesia Slide Down the FIFA Rankings After Skipping November Match Window

Indonesia’s national team saw their position in the FIFA rankings drop after the federation opted out of arranging matches during the November 2025 FIFA Matchday. Updated figures from Football Ranking placed the team in 123rd position with 1,144.73 points, reflecting the immediate impact of missing the international window. The absence of competitive fixtures left Indonesia vulnerable to being overtaken by teams that secured valuable points.
Suriname became the main mover that pushed Indonesia down the list. Their strong performance in the 2026 World Cup qualifiers, particularly a decisive win over El Salvador, earned them a significant points boost. Since El Salvador sat far higher in the rankings, Suriname’s victory generated a substantial jump that lifted them above Indonesia. The shift highlighted how quickly rankings can swing when one nation remains inactive while others capitalize on their opportunities.
Several teams positioned just below Indonesia also remain in contention to climb, depending on their results in the same match window. Their potential gains could further threaten Indonesia’s current standing. Meanwhile, Indonesia’s decision to field the U-22 squad in two friendly matches against Mali’s U-22 team did little to influence the rankings because the fixtures were registered in a lower tier and did not contribute points.
In contrast, Malaysia benefitted from results elsewhere despite not stepping onto the field. Namibia’s loss to Comoros indirectly gave Malaysia a rise to 117th place, showing how external outcomes can affect the rankings. Malaysia are set to return to action in their upcoming Asian Cup qualifier against Nepal, while Indonesia now faces the challenge of regaining lost ground in future windows.
