Persija Faces Four-Week Setback as Hanif Sjahbandi Begins Recovery

Persija Jakarta is facing a temporary setback in their Super League 2025-26 campaign as midfielder Hanif Sjahbandi is sidelined due to a foot injury. He has been diagnosed with a bone spur, a condition that affects joint mobility and requires medical intervention. To address the issue, Hanif underwent surgery, which went smoothly without complications, allowing him to enter the next phase: rehabilitation.
The recovery process for Hanif is gradual. He will start by regaining basic mobility, progressing to walking and eventually building up to running before returning to full training. This careful approach aims to ensure he can safely resume his role in Persija’s midfield without risking further injury.
Team doctor Muhammad Andeansah confirmed that Hanif’s rehabilitation is proceeding as planned. He is currently focusing on reducing inflammation and restoring joint function. Medical staff project that Hanif could return to full activity within three to four weeks, keeping hopes high that he will soon contribute again to the team’s Super League campaign.
Despite the setback, Persija continues to perform well on the field. The team sits in second place in the league standings with 23 points from 11 matches. Their next challenge comes against Persik Kediri on November 20, as the club sends support and encouragement to Hanif and other injured players, including Ryo Matsumura and Gustavo Almeida, wishing them a smooth recovery.
