Antoine Griezmann on Atlético Ambitions: Targeting La Liga, UCL, and Copa del Rey Titles

Atlético Madrid legend Antoine Griezmann recently discussed his future and ambitious targets in an interview with AS, following his contract extension to 2027.
The French star confirmed his motivation for extending his commitment to the club: "I want more. I still have a lot of minutes and energy to play and be an important figure at the club."
Griezmann acknowledged the mental toll of past disappointments, admitting the eliminations from nearly all competitions in March were "a huge mental blow" that subsequently affected his performances. However, he emphasized his current state: "I want to play, I am happy in Madrid, playing for Atleti, and I think that shows this season."
When asked what he still aims to achieve at Atlético after becoming the club's all-time top scorer, Griezmann stated his goals with a laugh: "Win a league title, a Champions League, and a Copa del Rey. There are many things to do."
He confessed that the memory of the missed penalty in the 2016 Champions League final still lingers. "Yes, you always think about it. It will continue until I win the Champions League with Atleti."
Regarding rumors linking him to MLS, Griezmann was direct: "Everyone knows the MLS is my goal, but I still have a contract, and I want to extend it and continue to be an important player here." He also revealed his dedication to the team by actively recruiting new talent, confirming he messaged Julián Álvarez "about four times" to convince him to sign for the club.
