Nova Arianto Appointed as Head Coach of Indonesia U-20 National Team

The Indonesian Football Association (PSSI) has officially named Nova Arianto as the head coach of the Indonesia U-20 national team. The announcement was made by Sumardji, Chairman of the National Team Committee (BTN), highlighting that the selection followed internal procedures and received recommendations from the PSSI Technical Director, Alexander Zwiers, along with approval from the Executive Committee.
Nova Arianto attended a meeting to present his initial plans and vision for the team. PSSI emphasized the importance of having the coaching staff fully prepared from the very beginning of team formation to ensure a structured and well-coordinated program.
Sumardji noted that the BTN expects Nova to align his coaching program and objectives with the broader roadmap for Indonesia’s youth national teams. The association aims for a clear framework that outlines both the development path and performance targets for the U-20 squad.
The composition of the U-20 team will largely feature players from the recently concluded Indonesia U-17 squad that participated in the U-17 World Cup under Nova’s guidance. Around 85% of the U-20 roster will consist of these players, creating a natural progression from the U-17 to U-20 level while maintaining continuity in player development.
