What kind of player is Bayern Munich starlet Lennart Karl? The youngster, coming off a productive November international spell with Germany’s U-21s, took a moment in a recent interview to assess himself.
“I’d say I have a lot of speed and a quick burst of acceleration. Most of my opponents already know that I also like to cut inside. Somehow, I still manage to get past them sometimes,” Karl said cheekily (via DFB, as captured by @iMiaSanMia). “Another strength of mine is that I’m not afraid of my opponents — no matter how old they are. Of course, I respect all my opponents, but I always try to play my football. That’s the best way to showcase your qualities. I still need to work on my first touch with my right foot; that’s what I need to focus on.”
Maybe Karl’s biggest strength is understanding the importance of knowing thyself. Both what he can lean on, and where he can develop.
