Romano: Real Madrid Willing to Sell Rodrygo Next Summer Amid 31-Game Goal Drought

Transfer expert Fabrizio Romano reported on his YouTube podcast that Real Madrid is now open to selling forward Rodrygo next summer, particularly due to the player's concerning form. Rodrygo is currently enduring a difficult period, having gone 31 matches without scoring a single goal for the club—a statistic Romano noted is well below both Real Madrid's standards and the player's own talent level.
Romano attributed the poor run partly to technical struggles and a "very difficult and painful moment" the Brazilian faced in the second half of last season. Despite the current dip, he dismissed immediate transfer speculation for January, labeling rumors linking Rodrygo to Chelsea and Arsenal as completely false.
However, looking ahead to the 2026 summer window, Romano confirmed that a move is possible. He stated that if a suitable offer were presented, Real Madrid would be willing to negotiate the forward's departure. Manchester City was mentioned as a club that showed interest last summer.
For now, the situation remains calm as Real Madrid’s immediate focus is internal: they are actively working to help Rodrygo break his goal-scoring drought, hoping a goal will allow him to move forward. If internal solutions fail to materialize, Romano believes a potential transfer in 2026 should be anticipated.
