RedBird Rejects Extra Funding for AC Milan Ahead of January Transfer Window

AC Milan’s owner, RedBird, is reportedly unwilling to provide additional funds for the club’s January transfer activities. This decision follows last year’s disappointing winter transfer window, which has left the ownership cautious about further investment. Despite strong performances at the start of the season, the club faces pressure to maintain its lead in Serie A.
The team has begun the season impressively, currently topping the league with 28 points. However, to remain competitive and sustain their title challenge, reinforcements are essential. The squad requires strategic additions to address both defensive and offensive gaps.
A primary need for AC Milan is a central defender to support rotation and provide depth in the team’s newly adopted three-center-back system. The adjustment in formation has highlighted the lack of defensive options, making a reliable backup or new addition crucial for squad balance.
Another significant concern lies in the striker position. The team still struggles to secure a consistent number 9, and high-profile forwards like Christopher Nkunku have even been linked with potential exits. This uncertainty puts additional pressure on the club to find cost-effective solutions to maintain attacking strength.
With RedBird unwilling to increase the transfer budget, AC Milan’s sporting director Igli Tare and his team must explore low-cost alternatives or generate funds through player sales. Potential departures, including Santiago Gimenez and Nkunku, could provide financial room to strengthen the squad without heavy spending.
