Persib and Dewa United Lift Indonesia to Two Asian Champions League Two Slots

Indonesia has secured two places in the Asian Champions League Two for the 2027-28 season following strong continental performances by Persib Bandung and Dewa United. One slot will grant direct entry into the group stage, while the other will be allocated through the playoff round. This achievement marks a significant step forward for Indonesian football on the Asian stage.
The additional slots are a direct result of valuable ranking points earned by both clubs in continental competitions. Their progress has boosted Indonesia’s position in the Asian club coefficient standings, allowing the country to climb above Cambodia in the regional rankings. This upward movement reflects improved competitiveness among Indonesian representatives in Asia.
Despite the positive momentum, Indonesia’s allocation for the upcoming season remains unchanged, with only one playoff berth in the Asian Champions League Two. This is due to underwhelming results by Indonesian clubs in continental tournaments two seasons ago, which still weigh into the current ranking calculations.
At present, Indonesia has yet to qualify a club for the Asian Champions League Elite. However, that possibility could emerge if Persib manage a deep run in the Asian Champions League Two, particularly by reaching the final or lifting the trophy. Such a result would significantly enhance Indonesia’s future access to Asia’s top-tier competition.
On the field, both clubs continue their continental journeys with confidence. Persib advanced to the round of 16 as group winners, while Dewa United reached the quarterfinals of the Asia Challenge League. Dewa United are set to face Manila Digger from the Philippines in March 2026, while Persib await the draw to learn their next opponent in the knockout phase.
