Indonesia U-17 Coaching Vacancy Persists as Nova Arianto and Kurniawan Emerge as Short-Term Options

Indonesia’s U-17 national team remains without a confirmed head coach as preparations continue for upcoming friendly matches against China. With limited time available, the names of Nova Arianto and Kurniawan Dwi Yulianto have resurfaced as potential interim solutions to guide the team through this transitional period.

The uncertainty has grown more pressing with two friendlies scheduled for early February in Tangerang. These matches are a key part of the team’s buildup toward the AFC U-17 Asian Cup in 2026, yet the absence of a permanent head coach has tightened the already short preparation window.

The situation stems largely from Nova Arianto’s promotion to the U-20 national team, which left the U-17 coaching position vacant. Since then, the Indonesian Football Association has yet to announce a replacement, creating a temporary leadership gap at a crucial stage of planning.

In response, Nova is again being considered as a temporary figure due to his familiarity with the age group and his previous work with the U-17 setup.
